Each alcoholic beverage is a special cargo, which is subject to the adverse impact of various external factors, and strict compliance with all conditions and rules for transporting alcohol, including special packaging, labeling is required. Proper storage is essential. It is recommended that alcoholic products, especially wine, be stored in special rooms, some even with a controlled temperature regime, in order to ensure optimal conditions for preserving their qualities. In addition, it should be taken into account that alcoholic products are an excise product.
As we mentioned - alcoholic products are highly sensitive to external factors, specialized transport is used for their transportation. Alcohol is transported in sealed, clean vehicles with a constant level of humidity and temperature. A common requirement is the complete darkening of an area in which the load is located and its stable attachment. In addition, vehicles must be equipped with additional security systems.
The documentation for the export or import of alcoholic products is not few at all. It is good that the processing of the documents is carried out by experienced customs specialists who are well acquainted with the preparation of all types of excise, customs and accompanying documents.
Legislation on the movement of excise goods has established strict requirements for the import and export of alcohol. Special labeling is mandatory on the packaging of alcoholic products.
Alcohol is an excise goods, and such goods are subject to excise duties when they are produced or traded. The EU sets the minimum amount of excise duty for each product, and EU countries may impose other taxes as well.
The following types of alcohol and alcoholic beverages are subject to excise duty: beer or mixtures of beer and soft drinks; wine; other fermented drinks - eg cider; intermediate products, for example sherry or port; ethyl alcohol/spirits. EU legislation only sets minimum rates, meaning that EU countries are free to apply excise duty rates above these minimums, according to their own national needs. Some EU countries may choose to reduce the amount of excise duty or accept payment exemptions. Reduced excise duty rates may apply to wines and fermented beverages with up to 8.5% alcohol content, beer with up to 2.8% alcohol content, intermediate products with up to 15% alcohol content and ethyl alcohol with up to 10% alcohol content alcohol content. Excise duty is not required on most household products not intended for sale, except spirits.
